Summerhill Welcomes The Woodlawn Public House

A new local pub is on the block and you will want to get acquainted

The algorithm is simple, great food, the best local craft beer and friendly staff. With this in mind, it won’t be long until residents of the Summerhill neighbourhood and beyond are calling the Woodlawn Public House home. This new cozy spot is nestled just south of St. Clair and north of Summerhill at 1276 Yonge Street. Warm and inviting, the 70 seat two storey restaurant radiates sophisticated Canadian charm. Pull up a seat at the bar, or grab a table and prepare to settle in and relax. If you venture upstairs, you will find a space that is perfect for large groups or private functions complete with comfortable booths, a second bar and bright skylight.

Although some would argue that the Woodlawn Public House has some big shoes to fill, replacing the beloved Monk’s Table, the new owners are well-versed industry parents to successful restaurants The Belsize Public House and Harbord House. With these names in their repertoire, it is apparent they have the recipe for a great pub down pat. The space has been given some much needed TLC and has been nipped and tucked in all the right places; ready to fill the bellies and hearts of locals and out-of-towners alike.

Serving elevated pub food and a rotation of 12 local craft taps, the Woodlawn Public House is sure to be a welcomed addition to the neighbourhood. Open for lunch and dinner seven days a week with house-made thoughtful fare; there is something for everyone on their cultivated menu, which will likely continue to grow in size over the next few months. In addition to sophisticated chef-inspired daily specials, rumour has it diners can also look forward to brunch favourites on weekends in the coming weeks. Some must-try menu items include a house ground burger, lobster clubhouse sandwich, cauliflower ale dip, and the Woodlawn Salad. Oh, and the house cut fries, of course, I wouldn't dare forget those! Always on the hunt for the next great local brew, you can expect a variety of draught in rotation, a healthy pour of 20 ounces will set you back $7.95 and styles including a Keller, Pilsner, Sour, Lager, Ales, IPA’s and Stouts from craft brewers Great Lake Brewery, Muskoka Brewery, Cameron’s and Henderson’s (just to name a few). They also promise to introduce a new monthly rotational tap. If you appreciate local wines as much as beers, you will be impressed by the selection of wines, including a pinot noir from Cloudsley Cellars, a Cave Springs Riesling and a Tawse rose as well as some international goodies.
